Dear Home Buyers,
Sixteen years ago, we were searching for our second home. We looked here in McKinney as well as Frisco and Allen. As I am sure you know, it is easy to get disappointed and a little discouraged when you learn what your budget can and cannot afford. We looked at many houses in new developments where the trees are held up by strings and all the houses look alike. There were older, more established neighborhoods but the houses there were dominated by aging builder grade furnishings and finishes. I can remember my wife would be close to tears some days. All that changed when we walked into this home. My wife and I fell in love with it immediately.
The house had all the things we wanted most on wish list: a gas stove and oven in the kitchen, lots of storage, a separate laundry room and a fenced yard for our dog. But it also had nearly everything else we hoped for – a pretty mantelpiece, beautiful granite countertops, and a big window in the kitchen that lets in lots of light. The large spacious master bedroom was filled with natural light.
So many traditions and memories are tied up in this home. We always put our Christmas tree in the front window and rearranged the furniture so we could sit on the sofa to look at the tree. In other months there was always a lit lamp in the front window. It was a welcome sight after a long day at work.
The backyard was the sight of many a barbeque. The space is perfect for cookouts. The neighbors are wonderful. They have been pleasant and helpful over the years. Be prepared the neighbors will be bringing over muffins and a welcome.
Aside from our house, we are going to miss the neighborhood. McKinney is a wonderful town. My friends joke that everything in McKinney is less than 15 minutes away from my house. There are many restaurants of all types here. My personal favorite is Cookies over by downtown. The best breakfast tacos in town.
